Talk Locally

Share the Katrina Business Guidelines with your local community to build awareness of the need for responsible business practices in the wake of rebuilding.  Consider ways to influence local companies to follow responsible business practices and to promote responsible design in your own communities.

Vote Proxies

Each year shareholders have the opportunity to cast votes on resolutions filed at various companies.  Many of these resolutions directly pertain to sustainable business practices.  Make sure your proxies are voted, either by directly voting yourself or confirming that your mutual fund company votes proxies in support of such resolutions.  See Calvert's proxy voting guidelines.

Explore Community Investment

Many community investment organizations are developing specific ways to target capital to the areas impacted by Katrina.  The Calvert Foundation, for example, recently announced that it would allow investors to direct capital from their Community Investment Notes to partners in the region.
